Koffee Looking Forward To Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show
Jamaican singer Koffee is looking forward to Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime performance, like the rest of the Bajan artist’s fans across the world.
The 22-year-old, who was nominated for her second Grammy Award for her debut album Gifted in the Best Reggae Album category, was speaking during a red carpet interview at Sunday’s ceremony in Los Angeles.
“You’ve worked with Rihanna. Are you looking forward to her Super Bowl performance?” Complex News asked. The Spanish Town native responded in the affirmative.
When quizzed about which song she hopes RiRi will include in her set, Koffee said: “Umm actually, weirdly, I want to hear Believe It by PARTYNEXTDOOR featuring her.”
Released in 2020, Believe It appeared on PARTYNEXTDOOR’s third studio album Partymobile. The song peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 12 on the UK Singles chart, and No. 39 on the Canadian Hot 100.
It’s certified Platinum in the US, for sales exceeding one million units, and Gold in the UK for sales exceeding 400,000 units.
Super Bowl LVII takes place on Sunday, February 12 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Rihanna announced that she would be the halftime guest back in September 2022, much to the delight of her supporters who hadn’t heard a note out of her for years.
The Bajan billionaire has been building her Fenty Beauty empire, and recently became a mother—sharing a son with rapper A$AP Rocky.
Rihanna’s list of guest performers at the show has not yet been officially confirmed.
Back in 2019, Koffee had hinted at a collaboration with the Only Girl In The World singer, during an interview in the Get Up Stand Up issue of i-D magazine ‘s Winter 2019 issue.
However, that has not come to fruition…at least not yet.
Koffee is said to have also written for Rihanna’s highly anticipated reggae album, which has been dubbed ‘R9’. Her involvement with the album was confirmed by California rapper Haiti Babii during an interview with BET.
Earlier that year, Rihanna also admitted that she is a big fan of the Jamaican singer and posted a video to her Instagram account that showed her enjoying Koffee’s hit song Toast.
In 2020, she coyly told Teen Vogue, “I am super grateful to have Rihanna as a fan (and I am a fan of her as well). Who knows what the future holds?”
