Popcaan’s ‘Great Is He’ Debuts On Two Billboard Album Charts
Popcaan‘s fifth studio album Great Is He has debuted on two Billboard album charts.
Billboard revealed on Tuesday (February 7) that the album opened at No. 3 on the Reggae Albums chart, a weekly listing that ranks the most popular Reggae albums in the United States based on sales and streaming.
On the Reggae chart, it opened lower than his previous four studio albums, FIXTAPE (2020), Vanquish (2019), Where We Come From (2018), and Forever (2014), which all debuted at No. 2.
Great Is He has also debuted at No. 14 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, which highlights the sales by new and developing musical recording artists each week. Where We Come From and Forever previously spent one week on the chart at No. 21 and 6, respectively.
Released via OVO Sound on January 27, 2023, Great Is He has sold 3,200 units total in sales and streaming equivalent units in the United States during its first week, according to data provided to DancehallMag from Billboard’s sales tracker, Luminate. This included 300 copies in pure album sales.
The album has so far sold a total of 13,900 units over its lifetime, according to Luminate. That figure includes digital sales and streaming equivalent units from the five singles that were released prior to the album drop last week.
The first single, Skeleton Cartier , was released on March 4, 2022, followed by Next to Me with former Miss World Toni-Ann Singh on November 30, 2022, and Set It on December 16, 2022. The fourth single and lead track, We Caa Done with Drake, was released on January 6, 2023, while Great Is He , the fifth single and title track, was released on January 20, 2023.
Only one song, We Caa Done with Drake, from the 17-track set has so far entered one or more Billboard charts. The track peaked at No. 16 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, and No. 36 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 chart, both dated January 21.
