Alkaline, Skeng, Jah Cure and Valiant are among the artists to release new music recently, we highlight those projects, among others, just in case you’re looking to spruce up your playlist.

Alkaline – Mad Luv

Mad Luv, the Vendetta Boss’ latest project, is a grand declaration of love and commitment. Whether he intended to capitalize on the Valentine’s Day buzz, or merely needed to get back in touch with his emotions, Mad Luv has proven to be a refreshing pivot by the Champion Boy artist, who takes a much-needed break from what seems to be a never-ending defense of his position in Dancehall. He loses himself in the Dancehall R&B fusion track, and takes you along that journey with him. The track was released on February 16 by Autobamb Records.

Nigy Boy ft. Mr Vegas – Waterfall

Nigy Boy, the blind Jamaican crooner who went viral a few years ago, beautifully delivers this uplifting anthem about blessings flowing like a waterfall. The youngster pours his spotless vocals into the track, and couldn’t have picked a better veteran to join him on it. Mr. Vegas’ singing chops and years of experience in the industry can be felt all throughout the song. What’s more – Vegas gives the talented Nigyboy all the room he needs to shine on the track, and he takes up every bit of space he is able to. The song is truly a triumph, and is certain to get its fair share of play over time.

Skeng – Elvis Presley

Skeng’s Elvis Presley is a welcomed break from his usual gun-toting and gang-flaunting persona, which had signalled a progressive narrowing of the artist’s interests and reach. With this YGF Records and Romeich Entertainment-produced track, however, Skeng makes a satisfactory return, if only briefly, to music for the ladies, and does so with his usual flair. ‘Elvis Presley’, an obvious nod to the Rock and Roll legend of the same name, is a party anthem that invites you in to let loose and live like a Rockstar, just like Elvis and his ilk did. The song’s backing instrumentals carried hints of some Elvis-like guitar riffs, and even featured flashes of Elvis, Michael Jackson and others throughout. Skeng even looks the part in his bedazzled bell foot onesie.

Jah Cure ft. Stonebwoy – Everything

Jah Cure’s ‘Everything’, featuring Stonebwoy is, well, everything. The song is a frustratingly beautiful reminder that the ‘Longing For’ singer is just too talented to be behind bars yet again. Truly one of Jah Cure’s best songs in recent times, from his heartfelt lyrics right back to his just as moving delivery, ‘Everything’ may yet fuel the myths that he does his best work behind bars. While obviously not the case, the song is possessed by vocals that seem bent on breaking through obstacles against love. Stonebwoy seamlessly complements Jah Cure’s vocals and provides some grit to the compelling story of a man wishing he did everything to keep the person he can’t seem to live without. The track is a single from his new album, ‘Undeniable’.

Teejay – Lonely Road

Teejay continues the reflective journey into his artistry, and Lonely Road is yet another manifestation of that inward look. A soulful and heartfelt rendition is delivered in this track about life’s journey, how dangerous people can be, and how we may only be able to trust ourselves and God alone in the end. Teejay essentially turns the track into a prayer, and he seems to genuinely be reflecting on times when he has had to deal with the very challenges he is praying about. Teejay has soul, and all of it is on display in this track, released on February 15.

Bayka – Shake The Place

Bayka shakes things up with this gutsy ‘badness’ anthem, which makes full use of all the elements of a typical ‘badman’ song. From references to the kinds of bullets that will be used to “shake the place”, to infrared lights and the horror left in the wake of firing one of those weapons, Bayka easily satisfies his fans with this Zimi Records-produced track, released on February 15.

10Tik, Stonebwoy – Vibes of The Night

Dancehall artist 10Tik and Stonebwoy struck magic with this Afrobeat Dancehall fusion. Released on February 11, the song takes listeners on an unmistakable journey about unadulterated fun, and serves as a flattering throwback to old-school dancehall music and vibes. The song is produced by 10Tik City Inc. and 3rd Eye Music, and is a party-starter and party rocker for anyone looking to get a crowd of grownups ready to move and bust down.

Jafrass – Madonna

Jafrass joins Skeng with new releases honouring old icons with his latest track. The song is a undoubtedly a banger, and sees Jafrass focusing every ounce of his attention on women – more specifically, the one whose beauty and sexiness reminds him of Madonna. Almost every Dancehall lover will find something appealing in this mellow, firm and sexy track, produced by Spot On Records.
