Dancehall artists Sean Paul and Charly Black were among the 50 most-played artists at Electronic Music Festivals in The Netherlands for 2022, according to Billboard Magazine.
Paul was ranked at No. 12, while Black was placed at No. 47 on the list, which was compiled based on plays and performances from 211 events from February to November across roughly 800 stages throughout the European country.
“Topping the list is afrobeats star Burna Boy, who’s followed by Colombian phenom J Balvin and UK hardstyle producer Act of Rage. Puerto Rico’s eternal favorite Daddy Yankee follows in fourth, with Dutch hip-hop outfit Broederliefde rounding out the top five. The rest of the list spans techno, hardstyle, disco, dubstep and more,” the publication reported.
Billboard also revealed on Friday (February 24) that Sean Paul’s Temperature (2005) and Boasty (2019), his collab with Wiley, Stefflon Don and Idris Elba, were ranked at No. 11 and 13, respectively, on its list of the 50 Most Played Tracks at Dutch Electronic Music Festivals in 2022.

Sean Paul’s music has had much success in the Netherlands. His songs No Lie (2017), which featured Dua Lipa, Trumpets (2017), a collab with Sak Noel and Salvi, and Make My Love Go (2016), a collab with Jay Sean, are all certified Platinum in the country, for sales exceeding 80,000 units in the country.
His Dutty Rock (2002) album is also certified Gold in the country, for sales exceeding 20,000 units.
Coincidentally, he and Charly Black released the official music video for a collaboration on Saturday (February 25) titled Gal Generals.
The song forms part of the Trelawny native’s full-length album, No Excuses, which debuted on Friday. The visuals for the A Team production fittingly portray the theme of the song with scores of women on set partying with the Dancehall stars.
No Excuses also sees a Bounty Killer collab on More and More, while Beenie Man added his voice to Bounce (Up). Richie Spice also contributed on Searching For.
ONErpm distributed the album, and according to its Caribbean Manager Malaika Lepine, No Excuses is expected to boost the deejay’s career.
“We are excited with the release of Charly Black’s new album ‘No Excuses’. His amazing star-studded collaborations aside, this album delivers Charly’s recognizable cadence and catchy lyrics, and will continue to further transcends and cement his place in dancehall history,” she said in an official release.
