Jahshii Trusts ‘God’s Plan’ In First Solo Single Of 2023
Dancehall artist Jahshii has released his first solo single of 2023, God’s Plan – a reflective and heartfelt track produced by Dominic ‘Troublemekka’ McDonald.
Released on Friday, the song, which draws inspiration from the lives of both Jahshii and McDonald, details the struggles both men face as they navigate the nuances of success and life. From dealing with fake friends, to tapping into one’s spirituality in times of danger, God’s Plan manages to resonate in similar fashion to a few of Jahshii’s other notable hits, namely Born Fighter and Cream of the Crop.
The track seems built on the notion of following a divine path, and additionally gives some insight into Jahshii’s recent decision to step back from the scene and ‘lock in’ to do some introspection.
If the track feels uniquely like one tailor-made for Jahshii, that’s because Troublemekka intended for it to be so. He explained recently: “When I got the call to link up with him [Jahshii], I purposefully sat down and came up with this idea. I knew it was gonna be something special for him.”
According to the Kingston-born producer, he knew the track would have resonated with the Born Fighter singer, whose real name is Mluleki Tafari Clarke.
He shared: “I knew it would connect on a different level. When I played it for him, after the first 10 seconds, he said ‘This is it’, and he worked on it right away.”
The video for God’s Plan, spearheaded by Shane Creative and shot in Ocho Rios, employs the use of a surrealist technique, underscoring the message of the single.
