Stefflon Don Says A Woman Shouldn’t Be Entitled To Half A Man’s Money: “If She Hasn’t Struggled With Him”
British-Jamaican rapper Stefflon Don has added her voice to the conversation about Spanish-Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi and his estranged wife Hiba Abouk, who has reportedly demanded half of his fortune after filing for divorce.
Now, if you think the 16 Shots singer would be jumping to her defense, think again. Stefflon made it clear on Twitter that she believes women are not entitled to anything if they didn’t contribute to a man’s success.
“No woman should be entitled to half of a mans earnings if she hasn’t struggled with & help him get there,” she tweeted on Saturday (April 15).
The divorce case between Hakimi, 24, and his actress wife who is 12 years his senior, instigated public chatter when it was revealed that she was seeking half of his wealth after filing for divorce in a Paris court.
This came after the Paris Saint-Germain defender was accused of attempting to rape a 24-year-old woman, which he has feverishly denied; though his ex-wife denies any relationship between her decision to severe ties and the rape allegations.
However, Abouk—who shares two sons with the footballer—was reportedly left bitterly disappointed after finding out that some 80% of Hakimi’s PSG wage goes directly into his mother’s bank account. His properties and other assets are also reportedly in her name.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Hakimi would have been worth approximately US$24 million if he owned 100% of his assets, and directly received payments. Abouk, on the other hand, is reported to be worth US$2 million.
Steffon Don’s stance clearly did not go down well with some Twitter users who believe that Abouk was deserving of her request, so, Hurtin’ Me singer retorted on Monday (April 17).
“The gold diggers ⚒️ are showing out. Bby chill,” she wrote along with a gif meme.
She also followed this up with some more trolling for all her critics.
“Bby you showing your colours thats not game at ol where is the Head of the Gold digging committee *Point her out* yall need to hold a meeting asap”
With almost 2000 quoted tweets on Saturday’s post, there was a split between those who agreed with the Clockwork singer, and those who thought she was talking nonsense.
“I do not support all women some of y’all are dumb,” @iamariaultra said.
“Lmaoooo, in most homes, there’s a woman sacrificing the bulk of her career to be a homemaker so that he’d husband can reach his peak so wtf are you talking about?” @cwithmymind asked rhetorically.
@selenesmvse added: “You’re right. I’m entitled to ALL my man’s earnings actually.”
“You should speak for yourself and not the collective of women. If you believe that you do not deserve half of your husband’s earnings then just say that….” JoVoiceofreason chimed in.
“I knew something was off with her when you song that “you got a new gf and it’s hurting me” song. It reeked of desperation just like this tweet🥱.” @Bombaykay11 said.
There were a few who jumped to her defense.
“The only sensible thing said by a woman on this issue 🫶🏽❤️” @Pluto88632118 said.
“I’m not understanding what’s wrong with this tweet like… do yall feel entitled to your s/o things cuz you’re married? or….” @im_Bultaoreune contributed.
“I see sense, the truth 💯” @NationWrite further said.
The issue of asset allocation has been cyclical for many years. In modern times, couples have the option of signing a pre-nuptial agreement which is a contract between two people that’s created before they get married. It typically lists each person’s assets, debts, and outlines how they will be handled should the couple divorce.
