Mezmo Roc One Releases Visuals For ‘Go Baby Go’
Dancehall fusion artist Mezmo Roc One soared to No. 1 on the UK iTunes Reggae Charts last weekend with his latest single, “Go Baby Go,” an Afrobeat-infused track with a feel-good vibe.
Since the release of the song two weeks ago with ritzy visuals, the video has racked up 139,000 views on YouTube.
“The response has been great, and it feels good to know that people are recognising my work and grooving to my music, the single is picking up all over the world,” the artist, whose real name is Garfield Gehovanie Russell, said.
He grew in the parish of St. Ann but spent most of his young life in Waterhouse Kingston. He is a past student of Ocho Rios High School.
He began his music career as a member of a group called the Stayn Crew but the group disbanded in 2010. After going solo, his single “You Know You” caught the attention of Mr. Orville “Shaggy” Burrell and Mr. Doo who is Shaggy’s producer.
Through that collaboration, Mezmo Roc One released ‘Keep on Moving’ and then ‘Hooked on You’, produced by Mr. Doo, the latter of which generated a great response on radio in Jamaica, United States and Europe.
The St. Ann-born singjay is inspired by artists such as Beres Hammond, Shaggy and Bounty Killer, because of the work that they have done in the music over the years.
He is also known for ‘Better Place’ featuring his daughter Amiliah.
The artist’s upcoming shows scheduled for this summer include gigs in Florida and a club show in Atlanta, Georgia.
