Former Pandora Curator Diego Herrera Appointed Director Of Business Development For Ineffable Records
Following a near decade-long stint at Pandora as its Reggae and Caribbean music curator, Diego Herrera will continue to move the region’s music forward as the newly appointed Director of Business Development for Ineffable Records – the label division of Ineffable Music Group.
Herrera comes to the pivotal role as a specialist adept at promoting Reggae, Dancehall and Soca music, among other Caribbean genres, and is excited about the chance to continue that work on an even greater scale with Ineffable Records.
“I see this as a continuation of the work I’ve been doing in elevating various music scenes, including Reggae, Dancehall, and Soca music – just now from the label side,” he said in a release. “I’m looking forward to applying my knowledge of the industry and ear for music to my new role. I’m excited to work with artists and their teams to create the best opportunities for their music to be heard and to help expand the musical horizons for the Ineffable Records label.”
Despite his new post, Herrera is no stranger to Ineffable Records. “I had the opportunity to work with Ineffable on a number of projects and releases during my time at Pandora,” he explained, adding that he was “…thrilled to now be part of their team.”
Adam Gross, President of Ineffable Records, shares in Herrera’s excitement. According to the label’s leading man, “Diego’s passion to help artists grow their audiences is second to none.”
Underscoring his admiration for Herrera’s work, Gross added: “I have seen first-hand his fight to push forward initiatives that have benefited countless artists, and his skillset – which includes his ear and love for music, combined with his understanding of curation and data make him the optimal person to join our team.”
Gross credits Ineffable Records’ growth to knowing what moves to make and when – evidenced by Herrera’s appointment, and believes the label’s artist-first approach, which will now be bolstered by Herrera, will continue to reap dividends.
He explained: “The growth we’ve experienced in recent years is due to forward thinking artist-first initiatives. We believe in a label model focused on audience growth, the lost art of A&R, and shaping deals that recoup in a timely manner so that artists can develop passive income streams that allow them to pursue their dreams and goals. I genuinely believe the various scenes and subgenres we work in are just beginning to scratch the surface of what they will become, and there is no one better to add than Diego in pursuit of these goals.”
In addition to Herrera’s appointment, it was also revealed that Ineffable Records’ Jeremy ‘J’ Namkung was promoted to the position of Director of Operations, while Maggie Hartigan was onboarded as Label Operations Coordinator.
The moves are expected to solidify Ineffable Records’ commitment to delivering exceptional support and opportunities to its growing roster of artists, all while ensuring the label remains focused on its mission to elevate the industry ecosystem for the genres it represents.
Dubbed the top independent label in Reggae, Ineffable Records is known to provide comprehensive support in A&R, release strategy, playlist pitching, marketing, as well as reimagining the release and discovery process. To date, it has benefitted artists from California, Jamaica, Trinidad, the Solomon Islands, and others.
Of note, the label has released music from the likes of Sean Paul, Kes, The Hip Abduction, Shwayze, and many more. Ineffable Records also provides label services to Ineffable Management clients such as Stick Figure, Collie Buddz, and Trevor Hall.
