Nigy Boy For Reggae Sumfest 2024
The up-and-coming Dancehall artist Nigy Boy is set to grace the stage at Reggae Sumfest at Catherine Hall this July.
This comes after a recent meeting in New York between the visually impaired artist and festival organizer Joe Bogdanovich, who expressed belief in Nigy Boy’s potential.
“I know he’s going to do great at [our] show, and Nigy Boy is truly another universe,” Bogdanovich said at the welcome home event for the artist at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James.
The singer, whose real name is Nigel Hector, responded with gratitude, acknowledging the endorsement and expressing confidence in his ability to meet expectations. “Thank you so much for your endorsement; you saw the talent, and you’re taking a leap of faith to push it, and I will not disappoint,” said Nigy Boy with a confident smile.
Nigy Boy gained significant attention last month with his hit track Continent on Rvssian’s Dutty Money riddim. The song has picked up 5.7 million views on YouTube.
Currently residing in the United States for almost eight years, the ‘Continental Boss’ has returned to his Jamaican roots for a two-show appearance. As part of his visit, he plans to reconnect with his past by visiting his alma mater in Kingston at the Salvation Army School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Additionally, he is scheduled to perform in Ocho Rios, St Ann, at Margaritaville, and at Aquasol Beach in Montego Bay, St James.
Speaking about his musical journey, Nigy Boy said, “Music is what I am about… It is my mission to tout that line and make music that can resonate with people of all ages, races, and ethnicities. It is a universal language; everyone speaks it. So I will stay in that lane and represent it.”
Reggae Sumfest 2024 will take place from July 14-20.
