Medikk’s Suspected Skeletal Remains Found In Canefield

Authorities have initiated DNA analysis on skeletal remains found earlier this week, seeking to determine if they belong to missing businesswoman and Dancehall artist Stephanie ‘Medikk’ Williams, a source close to her family told DancehallMag.

The skeletal remains were discovered on Valentine’s Day in a canefield in an area known as Wallen in St. Catherine.

Meddik has been missing since August 24, and despite a reward of $1 million put up by her mother, Millicent McCurdy, there has been no sign of her. Last year, McCurdy staged a peaceful protest outside the Constant Spring Police Station to highlight the artist’s disappearance and to stand in solidarity with families of other missing people.

The police had pursued several lines of inquiry in the Corporate Area in St Ann, Clarendon, and Westmoreland.

Medikk emerged on the music scene in 2018 as a 24-year-old. She is best known for songs such as Money Feelings and collaborations such as Overcome featuring Shane O, and Boss Level featuring Jahvillani.

The discovery of the remains has prompted an outpouring of grief from the music community, fearing they belong to Medikk.

Fellow artist Diiiverse told DancehallMag that she was saddened by the news as she was hopeful Medikk would have been found alive.

“I’m deeply saddened to hear the news about Meddik. I’ve been following the story closely and even though I had high hopes that she would be found alive and well, I’m sad to hear that the recently found remains might actually be her. As a female artist who has gone through many tribulations in this music industry you honestly just want to make it by almost any means. I honestly don’t know how to describe how I felt hearing that this could be her that was found as I don’t even know her personally,” she shared

Diiiverse reasoned that although she did not know Medikk personally she felt a connection through music. She also used the opportunity to encourage other fellow artists to bolster the security team around them,

“But due to the fact we seemed to have the same passion for this thing called music, I feel like I lost a sister. I would like to express my deepest condolences to her family should they confirm her demise. I love music just as much as the next female artist. Keep safe my fellow co-workers and women overall,” she added.

Posh Morris, the first lady in the Aidonia-led fourth genna camp, recounted when she met Medikk.

“I mean we follow & support each other but we never once exchanged # but it’s always good vibe. I saw her the day I was at rehearsal for sumfest in 2022 and we hugged. Thats the first time like we ever saw each other in real life and the encounter was pleasant, she was happy to meet me and congratulated me on my new rules performance,” she shared.

“I just pray for her mom’s strength. I saw her interviews when it happened and it broke me.Her sceams for her child cut me deep,” she said. “She was supportive based on her interactions on my posts and when I met her she was always complimenting me and seemed genine.”

Music producer Jahaziel, who is the son of reggae superstar Buju Banton, told DancehallMag that he met Medikk online, and their exchanges were always positive as she had a welcoming personality.

“We talked over Instagram to my knowledge and her personality was that of a great humble person. Her personality was so cool she was one of the best young artists to talk to. Medikk didn’t deserve this,” he said.
