Morgan Siblings Break Silence On Peetah’s Death, Announce March 7 Date For Memorial
Gramps, Taliba, and Lukes Morgan, three siblings of the late Peter “Peetah” Morgan, have shared heartfelt tributes on Instagram, remembering the former lead singer of their family’s renowned reggae group, Morgan Heritage.
Peter died on February 25, 2024, at age 50, almost two years after his father, Denroy Morgan. While the family has not officially confirmed the cause of death, the band’s publicist told DancehallMag that Peetah suffered a stroke and died in the United States.
Gramps paid an emotional tribute: “You were the greatest bredda I’ll continue to speak of your work Ethic, your ability to ignore the noise in the market, and your love for this music was like next to none.”
“Fly High My brother my best friend my partner. It still don’t seem real. WORDS WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH. I Got you Little bro Don’t Worry… Fly High with our Daddy.”
Lukes got candid about how the tragedy has shaken him up, admitting that he can’t control his tears.
“I don’t know how to get over this,” he began in his tribute on Instagram. “Jah P @peetahmorgan you left way too soon. Brother I miss you so much the tears I cry is just how much I love you. To know I can’t call you or send you a funny video just tear me apart.”
He continued: “I am so grateful for what we shared together @grampsmorgan @gotmojomorgan @unamorgan @morganheritage on stage we played together and all the place we travel to together we have so many memories together. I know you are with us everyday. LOVE YOU BROTHER 💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭”
Taliba shared an old clip of the Morgan Heritage group performing in Europe; seemingly banking on happy memories in the time of grief.
“My big brother was always full of laughs and smiles even playing around on stage 🥲🥲 This is a clip from the Live in Europe album when I was on tour with them. Love you my brother! 💔💔 👑 #Heritage4Life #morganheritage #legends #petermorgan,” she lamented.
Gramps also announced a memorial service for Peetah on March 7, 2024, in Orlando, Florida.
