Dancehall stars Spice and Shenseea have contradictory stories about what caused the rift between them.

In a recent clip from the Zeus Network’s Baddies Caribbean Auditions, where both artists judge talent, they bickered over who initiated the social media unfollow that seemingly marked the public breakdown of their friendship.

The back and forth started with Spice questioning Shenseea, “Weh mi an’ yuh manager ‘ave?”

Shenseea fired back, reminding Spice of all the times she showed her love and support.

But Spice continued: “Shenseea, di very first time yuh inna waah studio nuh mi yuh see? Mi nuh always a show yuh love? Suh how all of a sudden yuh get up an’ unfollow mi?”

Shenseea wasn’t having it. She insisted that the So Mi Like It singer blocked her unexpectedly, which, in the social media world, automatically leads to an unfollow. “Jesus Christ, Spice wicked enuh… Spice, a suh yuh stay?” she asked in between smiles.

“Spice, weh yuh block mi fah? Of course it aguh show seh mi unfollow yuh if yuh block mi. It automatically aguh unfollow yuh,” Shenseea explained, as Spice repeatedly said, “She know weh she do.”

In an Instagram Live on Sunday (March 10), the Blessed singer maintained that she’s always shown Spice love and respect.

“Mi always been have respect fi Spice, from day one. And nobody cyan seh otherwise because I’ve always shown love,” she told her fans. “Like guh dig it up ina di archives, you guys will find it. On many, many occasions.”

The timeline of the tension is murky. In January 2021, fans noticed that Shenseea had unfollowed Spice just after Jada Kingdom hailed Spice as a mentor and the true “Queen of Dancehall.” Spice highlighted Kingdom’s recognition, contrasting it with the lack of acknowledgement from other female artists.

At the time, many fans believed that this may have triggered the unfollow, while Shenseea’s supporters reshared several past posts where she had praised Spice, including one that showed Shenseea thanking Spice for teaching her how to “attack a beat.”

One day later, Spice seemingly unfollowed Shenseea on Instagram.

Then in June 2021, Spice pointed fingers at Shenseea’s co-manager, Romeich Major, for sabotaging a potential collaboration between them by “talking bad” about her behind her back.

Fast forward to a year after, Shenseea claimed that she had attempted to hit the recording booth with Spice more than once, to no avail.

“I mean, I reached out a couple times. You feel me? But I don’t know (shrug),” the Jamaican star told Angela Yee on The Breakfast Club. “But I’ve been trying to work with female artists though. Yeah, like, I said that on my Live too,” she added, pointing to the December 2020 Live in which she vented to fans that she had been snubbed for collaborations.

One thing’s for sure, fans are dying for them to put their differences aside and drop a killer collab. “They should do a song together and call it even,” @federiciameade said.

“They should just get over the foolishness… I love them both and they both super talented in their own way,” @suave._.sash chimed in.

In the meantime, Shenseea has teased an unreleased Dancehall track.
