Lady Da Flame Heads To The UK

Lady Da Flame

Gospel and reggae singer Lady Da Flame is gearing up to head to the United Kingdom for a pair of upcoming performances.

She will be performing at the War Report Anniversary on April 13th. The God Answers Prayers singer will follow up that sting with an appearance on April 20th for Synergy Davda’s birthday celebration.

“UK ah go de pon fire,” Lady Da Flame said, laughing.

The reggae singer has solidified a decent following for her powerful ballads, including her Phyllis Dillon tribute which currently holds the pole position on the ethnic chart, the Reggae Foundation Radio Network chart in New York.

“I just love how people have been responding,” she said.

Phyllis Dillon, who died in April 2004, was a Jamaican rocksteady and reggae singer who recorded for Duke Reid’s Treasure Isle record label in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She is best known for 1967’s Perfidia, a song popularized by the American surf rock band The Ventures. The original Perfidia is a 1940 song written by Alberto Domínguez and made popular by the Cuban bandleader, Xavier Cugat.

She was posthumously awarded the Order of Distinction in 2009 by the Jamaican government.

NAME CHANGE

Lady Da Flame believes her recent name change will solidify the marketing and business aspects of her career.

Originally known as Lady Flame, she changed her moniker as she sought to reinvent herself and upgrade her record keeping in terms of analytics and reports.

“Over the years, I have produced a lot of music that has been released under the names, Lady Flame and Da Flame. Combining the names to come up with ‘Lady Da Flame’ was a fun way to show unity and cohesion as an artiste, and this move will help my supporters to find all of my music in one place,” she said.

She has released a new Lovers Rock EP under her new stage name.

*The central theme of the Lovers Rock EP is bringing back the love. I love all the tracks but some of my favourites are: Forever Yours and You Got Me,” she said.

Lady Da Flame is equally at ease in the worlds of reggae and gospel. In the world of gospel music, she is known for her show-stopping original ‘God Answers Prayers’, while in reggae music circles, she has wowed audiences with her ‘Tribute Medley’ to reggae great Phyllis Dillon. She has carved out a reputation for her powerhouse vocals, doing songs with Rawborn Productions, Kidmac Productions, Richie Stephens(Pot of Gold), and Basco House.

“*”My message is not diversified, it’s always the same: seek a relationship with the Most High. My music is diversified, yes I am mixing Gospel and reggae because gospel is the message and reggae is the method,” the singer explained.

“I have always been a musician who thinks and works outside of the box and not limiting my talents to one area in music. I do a wide range of types of music so I have gospel tracks, Reggae tracks and even gospel reggae tracks,” she said.

Lady Da Flames aspires to be one of those truly special musical acts and artistes who are able to find success spanning various genres of music. She is using her gift of writing, singing, and composing music that specifically moves the hearts of listeners to a deeper relationship with God.

“I grew up in the church and was raised by my grandparents who were the pastor and leaders of our Church. Gospel music is in my blood because of my upbringing. Yes I believe in God and I am a follower of God who has no reservations in spreading messages through reggae and other genres,” she said.

She has performed on many shows alongside artistes in gospel such as Shirley Cesar, Jekalyn Carr, Jonathan Nelson, and Kevin Downswell, while in the world of reggae, she has shared the stage with stellar acts such as Beres Hammond, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Richie Stevens, Buju Banton, Etana, and many more.
