Shaggy Celebrates Daughter Sydney’s 19th Birthday

Shaggy, in his attempts to post the “worst pics” of his daughter Sydney on her birthday yesterday (April 13), was stopped in his tracks by the 19-year-old. 

The platinum-selling artist shared the funny moment on Instagram when Sydney wrote him a note begging him not to upload any embarrassing photos of her this year.

“Got this from my daughter last night,” he wrote. “Hey wonderful amazing father if you’re going to post me for my birthday use these I BEG………..bc u just love post craziness sometimes 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣,” the note read. 

The Boombastic singer admitted: “She knows me well … I look for the worst pics 🤦🏾‍♂️.”

“However it’s your Birthday and your wish is my command… hope your having an amazing day!! I know you’re surrounded by your amazing friends filled with lots of love. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SYD!! #girldad #bigdaughter.”

Sydney, who is the oldest of three girls to Shaggy and his wife, Rebecca Packer, instead provided him with a photo dump of some of her favorite snaps throughout the years. 

A quick look back on Shaggy’s past birthday posts would explain Sydney’s trepidation. Last April, the Carolina singer (though posted several adorable snaps) may have included some not-so-flattering ones of his daughter. 

In April 2022, the photos he uploaded on Sydney’s birthday could speak for themselves, but his caption was right on the ball. “Happy Birthday to my princess #sydney … from your really annoying Dad!!🤣🤣”

The 19-year-old also had to page her mother, Rebecca, about her photo choices. “She just gave me a talk about the ones I posted 😂😂 Happy birthday Princess. Always wearing the crown. Have a beautiful day my darling @sydney.burrell 😘,” Packer wrote in the comments of her husband’s post. 

Shaggy, whose real name is Orville Richard Burrell, is a dad of 5 children; Sydney and twin girls Madison and Kelsey, along with two boys from his relationship with Carol Johnson; Richard Burrell Jr., a rapper with the stage name “Robb Bank$” and brother Tyler.

Shaggy tied the knot with his long-term partner Rebecca Packer on July 12, 2014, at the prestigious Goldeneye resort in Oracabessa, Jamaica.

Shaggy’s latest track, When She’s Around – a collaboration with Rwandan singer Bruce Melodie, was released a month ago on March 5. Check out the visuals below:
