Dancehall artist Sikka Rymes is back on social media and he looks…different.

The Loyalty artist, known as the vice president of Vybz Kartel’s Gaza Empire, is literally ‘back to black’ after bleaching his skin since 2017.

“Who jah bless no man curse” was the caption of a new photo shared to his Instagram page on Thursday.

Rymes, whose given name is Javian Chambers, was sitting in what seemed to be a prison cell, with his signature twists replaced with a short afro, and his light skin now quite pigmented.

Besides comments expressing shock over his new appearance, several users questioned if his absence was due to incarceration.

“A jail him did deh?” one netizen asked.

“When Sikka reach jail?”

Another wrote, “In a uk jail lol. Mad.”

There were further sentiments longing for freedom.

“Wul it out dawq. If u see dis u a memba a who yah real real yute mi fam stay strong mi fada.”

“Freedom soon fam.”

“Bless up back on road.”

In his Instagram Story, the deejay posted a zoomed photo of one eye to the soundtrack of Eminem’s Without Me.

In August 2023, his ex-wife, Shy, claimed he was in a UK prison for a domestic abuse conviction.

“My soon to be ex-husband @sikka_rymes got sentenced to 3.5 years in prison today for domestic abuse,” she wrote in one of several Instagram stories. “Let this be a lesson to all you Jamaicans who think you can come over here and get away with the same f**keries you keep up back home.”

News that the I’m Only Human deejay had tied the knot surfaced in 2022, but he declined to confirm the report. Rymes subsequently referred to Shy – a scriptwriter and property developer – as his wife in a birthday post. While they were all smiles in photos, Shy claims she was trying to get out of the relationship for more than a year.

“He has been living off me for three years, not to mention the benz and taxi I bought him in Jamaica. All the holidays, music videos and equipment I paid for. He conned a lot out of me. Let me tell you something else, when you have bad intentions, karma will catch up with you. God is great.”

At the time, some netizens questioned if it was a publicity stunt for a musical project. This answered itself with Rymes’ sudden withdrawal from the public eye until now.

While he dodged questions about incarceration, he interacted with one fan who requested new music with Kartel. The latter, whose murder conviction was overturned by the UK Privy Council, was denied bail hours before Rymes’ return to social media.

“Man guh hai fi link ehh teacher fi some lyrics,” the comment read. “Watch an see if him next song nah guh tuff.”

Responding with a laughing emoji, Rymes simply wrote, “Loading.”

The two have a slew of collabs including Like I’m Superman, Champagne Campaign, Heavy Weight and I Can.
