Ishawna Says She Won’t Financially Support A Man: ‘This Is Not Queenie’

If there’s one person Ishawna isn’t modeling when it comes to her romantic relationships, it’s Queen Ladi Gangsta.

Weighing in on the ongoing 50/50 debate when it comes to spending in a relationship, the Equal Rights singjay said to each his own, but she could never financially support any man.

“This is not Queenie,” she said during a recent sit-down on The Truth is Real podcast. “I’m sorry, am I allowed to say that? Mi nah min’ nobody, no… If I’m on a level, I want my man to be on a similar level, yeah, and as I said, mi nuh believe inna mining man…”

Queenie’s popularity equally blossomed from her relationship issues and viral Double Tap bop. Regarding the former, her current marriage to Dwayne ‘Dowey’ Scarlett has been marred by infidelity chatter and her being the breadwinner in the relationship.

Recalling her 2015 track Ooh La La, Ishawna said she’s not giving her lady parts to a pauper.

“The dating and the courting and going out to the nice places and the boujee places, a dem something deh turn me on…” she said. “So mi nuh inna the keekee pon nuh phone and nuh facetime, oh, send me nuh pic. Dem something dem nuh turn me on.”

Ishawna has had her own relationship issues air out in the public, particularly with her child’s father selector Foota Hype. Once engaged, the two had a nasty breakup which saw her accusing him of domestic abuse and infidelity, and him accusing her of changing for the…freakier – to say the least.

These days, she’s adopted the “soft life”, void of public drama and details of her personal life. The entertainer did, however, dish on being a cheerful giver in more ways than one when it comes to spoiling her partner.

“I believe if you’re a boss b*tch, you’re a boss b*tch, and yuh man floss and yuh floss yuh man,” she said. “Member seh a nuh scuminar we deh wid. Memba we a nuh scabby. Memba we a boss. Memba we a don. Memba we nuh haffi ask the man fi buy nuh hair fi we… Him haffi give we businesses, investments – a dem something deh we ask man fah.”

The Restraining Order artist is exhausted of the 50/50 argument, and believes many women are being disingenuous about their realities.

“Some girl a seh dem don’t waan work, but guess wah, Rihanna a work, Beyoncé work, talk up nuh man, and dem a billionaire. So, I’m not gonna really say, oh, mi nah do this and mi nah do that, come on. I believe if you’re a unit, you and your man – mi a talk husband, mi nah talk nuh likkle dolly house business…

“You have a serious partner and unno a build together and unno together-together, like a your husband, nothing nuh wrong because guess what? At the end of the day, a fi unno money. Everybody money a our money. Mi know fi a fact seh Rihanna a pay bills, mi nah ask Christ, and she love har babyfather and she want har babyfather… If you’re a girl and you feel like you don’t want to pay, okay, that’s fine…but don’t be a hypocrite about it.”
