Cash Pot Result Was ‘Lizard’ Following Vybz Kartel’s Release

It’s a running joke that Jamaica isn’t a real place, and that manifested in the strangest way about three hours after Vybz Kartel was released from prison on Wednesday.

Cash Pot, a popular game by Supreme Ventures Limited, pulled the number 31 which means “Lizard” during its 8:25 p.m. draw. Coincidentally, Kartel was released on the 31st of July, and “Lizard” was the alias of Clive Williams, whom Kartel was convicted of murdering in 2014.

For the most part, netizens laughed at the irony of the winning Cash Pot number, but others speculated if the draw was tampered with.

“Nobody cyah tell mi seh cash pot nuh rig,” one social media user commented.

“Supreme ventures mix up yf 😂😂😂,” another user aired.

“😂😂Wat a day.”

“What a piece a suhm🤣🤣🤣.”

Then there were folks who claimed they bought the winning number and others who wished they had.

“Me ketch it but me sorry it never mega,” one person wrote.

“Tpc I shoulda tell mi breda fi buy eh,” another chimed in.

As the allegations went, Williams and Lamar Chow had been given two unlicensed firearms from Kartel for safekeeping. The entertainer gave the men a deadline to return them, but failed to comply. Consequently, they were summoned to the deejay’s Havendale home, accompanied by Shawn ‘Storm’ Campbell, and met by Kartel, Andre St. John and Kahira Jones. They were subsequently attacked, but Chow escaped while Williams was never seen again.

Kartel and his cronies were ultimately convicted of his murder, a decision which was overturned earlier this year. The ‘World Boss’, alongside Campbell and St. John – walked free yesterday upon orders from the local Appeal Court. Jones will remain in custody for an unrelated case

Whether organic or planned, it was an evening for brands to attach themselves to Sir Adidja Palmer. Shortly after the acquittal was announced, Fanatic Festival, held at Club Meca in Constant Spring, Kingston, shared that it would be hosting a ‘World Boss freedom celebration party’ that night. The same venue will be used for another release party on August 6, Independence Day.

Meca principal Michael Dawson co-authored The Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto: Incarcerated But Not Silenced with Kartel back in 2012, and used the opportunity to insert where people can purchase the publication.

Meanwhile, popular party promoter Nino TNS is being bombarded with requests to get the Summer Time hitmaker on the next Sandz festival. Though he didn’t respond, he proposed a “Gully and Gaza” show at the National Stadium on a post made by Mavado that toasted Kartel’s acquittal.

The stadium was the venue of choice for dancehall and reggae legend Buju Banton’s first concert after being released from a US prison in 2019. The Not An Easy Road act served ten years for a drug-related conviction.
