In 2022, Vybz Kartel’s fiancée Sidem Öztürk said she took it upon herself to meet “this man of my dreams”. On Wednesday, Kartel gave the less romantic version of the story, revealing that the Turkish woman stalked one of his babymothers to find out where he was serving his since-overturned murder conviction.

“We met in 2015,” the Love Dem artist said on the Juan EP is Life podcast. “She actually stalked my babymother’s, one of my babymother’s Instagram cause she couldn’t find me, so she had to watch who my babymom’s was following. So, she found me through my babymom’s Instagram.”

Öztürk having stalker tendencies isn’t far-fetched should one recall her debut OnStage interview. An unapologetic Gaza fan, she said she fell in love with the entertainer from a distance through his music, interviews and looks.

“I found him very handsome, so I was very attracted to him and you can kind of call it an obsession cause I thought he was the most perfect man for me and walking the Earth, so I just really wanted to meet him and get to know him.”

She came, saw and conquered, embarking on a nine-year journey with Addi, interwoven with the timeline of his on-and-off common-law relationship with Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson. The latter, mother to three of his children, is his most known babymother, followed by Sherika Todd, who birthed his first daughter.

Öztürk was introduced to the public as Kartel’s future wife on FOX5 New York two years ago, and the Slow Motion deejay says plans are underway to wed soon.

“Yes (there are plans to get married soon). She is my fiancée. I proposed to her while I was in prison. As I said, I was confident that I was getting out.”

So confident that he relocated her from the United Kingdom to Jamaica in 2022, and purchased a fleet of new vehicles months before he was freed in July.

After serving 12 years and 10 months behind bars, he was also sure of the first thing he wanted to do as a free man.

“I had sex; that’s the first thing,” he said.

The couple has since started a YouTube vlogging channel, Kiss Me Baby TV – which also has an Instagram page. The channel has a subscription count beyond 50,000 and features short videos of the pair running errands, traveling, and essentially, doing things to help Kartel reintegrate into society.
