Reggae singer Jah Cure, currently serving a six-year sentence in the Netherlands, has shared that he found a way to celebrate his 46th birthday with fellow inmates and prison staff.

“Today I had the best Birthday that you could have in jail,” the singer wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Thanks to all the people from different nationalities that rallied around me by helping me to make the cakes and serve the food and drinks,” the post continued. “It’s good to find happiness in the darkest times and thanks to all the guards and staff who help me to make it possible. I felt the love and respect from everyone in here.”

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY to every Libra ♎️ that was born on this day and this month. #happylibraseason,” he ended.

In response to his post, several fans and fellow artists sent messages of support.

“Blessings inuh me singer more life,” commented Charly Black. I-Octane wrote, “Blessed earth strong king 🤴 🙏🏻 more life and prosperity 🙏🏻”

In March 2022, Jah Cure, whose real name is Siccature Alcock, was acquitted of an attempted murder charge but convicted of the lesser offense of attempted manslaughter in relation to the stabbing of a promoter over unpaid performance fees in October 2021.

Following his six-year sentence, Dutch prosecutors appealed to the court against the acquittal of the attempted murder charge, which carries a prison term of more than 15 years.

The new trial has not yet begun.

The True Reflections singer has had previous run-ins with the law in Jamaica. He was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, rape, and robbery with aggravation and, following his conviction, received a 15-year sentence in 1999, but was released early in 2007 after serving eight years.
