Jamaican singer Omi’s 2015 single Hula Hoop is now certified Silver in the United Kingdom.

The British Phonographic Industry (BPI) announced the certification on Friday, recognizing the track’s sales and streaming figures, which have now surpassed 200,000 units.

This marks Omi’s third Brit Certified Silver single, following the massive success of Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix), currently 5X Platinum (3 million units), and I Found a Girl, his collaboration with The Vamps, also certified Silver.

Hula Hoop was the second single from Omi’s debut album Me 4 U, following the formula for the global hit Cheerleader. The song peaked at No. 75 on the UK Singles Chart, No. 16 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100, and No. 19 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. It also reached the top 10 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, and Sweden.

The official visuals, currently 109 million on YouTube, embraces a fun, beachy vibe, kicking off with a Miami radio station announcing a contest to find the perfect girl for the video.

Omi’s latest release, Poker Face , dropped earlier this month under Oufah Music. The track, produced by Specialist and Alistair McIntosh, is expected to gain momentum, with an official music video coming soon. “It’s one of those songs that you feel is gonna do well with promotion behind it,” he shared with the Observer.

Fans can also expect his sophomore album in early 2025. “We don’t have a title for it as yet, but the fans will be able to see a lot of growth in the music. This time I will be more involved, so you’ll hear a more organic Omi,” he revealed.
