A-Suh Boss To Drop ‘Renaissance’ EP In November
Rising Dancehall artist A-Suh Boss’ latest single is Chappa Cry, a song about the hustling mentality that youths need to adopt to survive in the grimy streets of Jamaica.
“Chappa Cry is an explanation on why the youths are forced to embrace a hustling mentality at a young age, living in the fast lane, getting that money to fuel their big dreams, and create generational wealth,” the artist whose real name is Yashoy Anthony Clarke, said.
The single, produced by Monk Music, was released in October. The video will be released on November 25 to coincide with the release of his EP.
He grew up in the communities of Red Hills and Arnett Gardens, spending time between his mother and father’s residences. He attended Norman Manley High School during his teenage years. Fascinated by music, he first got involved in music through the influence of a friend called New Money, and later joined a fledgling dancehall group called Frasses.
He released his first song, ‘Start Fi Walk’ in 2013.
“That song, Start fi Walk is self explanatory as it was the beginning to my musical career, mi just start learn the business,” he joked.
After leaving the group, he re-christened himself A-Suh, a name given to him by his two year-old son at the time. The patois phrase means ‘that’s how’.
“A-Suh is a Patois name and it is dancehall and representative of my Jamaican heritage,” he said.
He first vaulted into the spotlight with the single, Impostures, which has racked up over 230,000 views on YouTube.
“At the moment I was thinking about the new wave of dancehall music and how I could bring my own flair and sound to it and how this Impostures concept could assist in my ascendancy,” he explained.
He recently completed his eight-song EP dubbed ‘Renaissance’ featuring work by the production teams of Temple Boss Records, Monk Music and Polo Store Entertainment.
“It’s always good chemistry when we link up. We have completed all of the tracks, so we’re just putting the finishing touches on it for release in November,” he said.
The EP will be released on November 23 via all online platforms. The EP will feature songs like Chappa Cry, Rich Life, Road Code, Impostures and Top Meech.
