Alan Ranks Brings Monthly Music Showcase To Green Island On Boxing Day

Veteran Montego Bay-based Reggae/Dancehall emcee Allan “Action Master” Ranks will debut his official Allan Ranks Show at Half Moon Beach in Green Island, Hanover this Thursday, Boxing Day.

In an interview with DancehallMag, Reservation Manager at Half Moon Kathleen Gillespie, unveiled details of the event which stars Allan’s three guests: King Lyfe, Storm and Dollyman.

“Allan Ranks, the most popular emcee from here to Kingston, has introduced more musicians on more stages than anyone. So we thought it was about time for Allan to have his own stage. The first Thursday of every month Allan will be introducing the most sought after musicians and performers to the stage at Half Moon Beach,” Guillespie said.

She said that the monthly event promises to deliver a blend of vibrant performances making it a must-attend for music lovers and beachgoers alike.

Alan Ranks, a celebrated emcee with decades of experience gracing major stage shows across Jamaica, is known for his charisma and connections in the entertainment world. He will not only host but also produce the upcoming show, curating a mix of seasoned and emerging talent for each monthly installment.

“Half Moon Beach is the ideal place for the event,” Allan told DancehallMag.

“I have done many shows there, like the Pirate Beach event. I love the beauty there. Boxing Day is the perfect date to launch, and it will continue every month with big-name and upcoming artistes,” he added.

The inaugural show, will run from 3:00pm to 6:00 pm and will see the artistes being backed by a live band.

According to Gillespie, the lineup of artistes each month, will be solely handpicked by Ranks himself.

“It’s completely Alan’s decision. He’s the producer of the show, and we’re providing the facility and system to make it happen.”

Half Moon Beach, which is a seven-minute drive from Negril, and offers an idyllic backdrop for the event.
PAtrons to the show can enjoy a full day at the beach with a $1,000 entry fee, which grants access to the venue and the live performances.
“It’s a normal beach day with something extra. The Alan Ranks Show is set to bring a new level of energy and entertainment to our beautiful beach,” Gillespie explained.

The initiative stems from a collaboration between Ranks and Gillespie, who recognized the untapped potential of giving the veteran MC his own stage.

“We asked ourselves, what can we do that no one else has done before? Alan Ranks has been on every major stage, but he’s never had a stage of his own. Now, he does,” she explained.
