The MOBO Awards has announced its first wave of performers for the 2025 ceremony, with Queen of Dancehall Spice set to grace the stage at Newcastle’s Utility Arena on February 18

The lineup will also include UK rappers Krept & Konan and Bashy, the organisation confirmed on Monday.

MOBO Founder and CEO Kanya King CBE expressed her excitement about the upcoming ceremony: “Each of these artists brings something truly special to the stage, and this is just the beginning. From the vibrant energy of dancehall to the dynamic sounds of UK rap and R&B, we’re curating a night full of unforgettable moments.”

Spice, who is nominated in the Best Caribbean Music Act category, will be competing against Popcaan, Shenseea, Skillibeng, Valiant, and YG Marley. This marks her second MOBO Award nomination.

Interestingly, in 2019, she collaborated with Krept & Konan and Tory Lanez on First Time, which landed Spice her first entry on the UK Singles chart. The song spent two weeks on the chart, peaking at No. 63.

The event, which will take place at the 15,000-capacity Utility Arena in Newcastle, will be accessible to fans worldwide through a live stream on the official MOBO Awards YouTube channel, with a BBC One Special to follow.

Established in 1996 by Kanya King, the MOBO Awards has become a cornerstone of British music culture, celebrating talent of black origin across various genres including hip hop, grime, R&B and soul, reggae, jazz, gospel, and Afrobeats.

The announcement of additional performers is expected in the coming weeks, building anticipation for what King describes as “one of our most electrifying yet” ceremonies.

“We can’t wait to reveal more incredible talent as we count down to February 18. This is a celebration you won’t want to miss!” King said.
