Craigy T Talks New Music Video, What Makes Him Stand Out In T.O.K

Dancehall artist Craigy T has released the official music video for the track  No Echo .

The uptempo song—that was featured on his  debut EP Unload—premiered on Thursday, February 20. It succeeded the official visuals for Onion, which was also on the project.

“Since the filming and the decisions were solely mine, I just decided to do the most popular, based on the information I was getting which was Onion, and then my favourite which was No Echo. I also think that timing is right. The song has a carnival/ dancehall vibe, so, the timing feels right,” said the artist, whose given name is Craig Thompson.

The video— shot by Prime Concepts at Ideas Evolution Studios— sees dancers  Radha Ruiz and DHQ Aga showing off their finest skills.

Adding that No Echo is his favourite from the body of work because of the positive energy it evokes, Craigy T lauded the young women for their part in bringing the video to life.

“Radha was actually in the Onion video and based on the success of that, and the professionalism with which she worked, I knew that I had to work with her again. I thought she was the perfect person to represent the dancehall side of No Echo and then I checked with my very good friend Kandi, who is deeply integrated into the carnival scene, and she recommended DHQ Aga to me who is a Polish native but she lives in Jamaica. I asked her if she wanted to be in the video in costume and she was excited, so, we did it,” he explained.

With the soca feel that the track exudes, the entertainer noted that he would love to collaborate with Trinidadian artiste Bunji Garlin, who happens to be versed on dancehall rhythms, as well.

Unload has continued to see success with listeners all around the world streaming their favourite song from the EP. It is a testament of the talent of the artiste who has had a career spanning over two decades.

Craigy T is known worldwide as a member of T.O.K., however, he has always managed to stand out; whether through talent or personality.

“Based on what people have told me, I think I am the heartbeat behind the movement. The raw energy is based on a large part of my contribution. When I’m alone, you get it unfiltered, whereas with T.O.K, you have four different energies coming together to give you one, but if you resonate more with one of the members, or another of the members— you don’t get that full impact or effect so sometimes, the songs come off as commercial. With me, it’s just the unfiltered, uncensored vibe,” Craigy T said.
