Seymour Stewart, the attorney-at-law representing Queen Ifrica, real name Ventrice Morgan, has confirmed that there will be a case management session on May 8 in the defamation suit filed by ska singer Derrick Morgan against his daughter, Queen Ifrica.

“I cannot say much now, but I will have more to say after case management session in May,” attorney-at-law Seymour Stewart told DancehallMag.

According to the defamation suit, the ‘Lioness on the Rise’ singer made several allegedly defamatory statements, videos and interviews on August 1, 2023. In the video in question, Queen Ifrica revealed that as a child, she had an estranged relationship with Morgan due to issues surrounding her mother. However, as an adult, she attempted to reconnect with him.

Queen Ifrica allegations described a specific incident where she was sexually assaulted at Derrick Morgan’s Kingston residence. The ‘Below the Waist’ singer suggested that she was raped and that the incident was an act of incest.

The family of ska legend Derrick Morgan has denied the allegations. Merrick Morgan, a son of the ska legend, called the allegations “malicious and baseless”.

“We intend to do all that is necessary and within the confines of the law to clear our father’s reputation of these terrible, malicious and baseless allegations,” businessman Merrick Morgan said.

Charles ‘Advoket’ Ganga-Singh, who is representing the ska great, is looking forward to clearing his client’s name.

“We will be pursuing this matter in court with the utmost rigour,” Ganga-Singh said.

The defamation lawsuit, Derrick Morgan v Ventrice Morgan, moves on with a case management session on May 8th in the Supreme Court of Jamaica. This step is a court-scheduled session where parties come together to brief the court on the status of a case.

The battle lines appear to be drawn as Queen Ifrica faces off against her brothers and sisters over the explosive incest and sexual assault allegations.

“We have always embraced her as part of our family and for her to do this has left us dumbfounded as it has potentially damaged our father’s stellar reputation,” Dr. Courtney Morgan, another son of the ska legend, said.

The Morgan family filed the defamation lawsuit against Morgan’s daughter, ‘Queen Ifrica’, in June 2024, alleging “reputational damage for false allegations” she made against him in 2023.

Shortly after the video was published, Morgan’s lawyer sent a cease-and-desist letter to Queen Ifrica requesting its immediate removal and apology.

Instead, Ifrica published another video weeks later with hyperbolic allegations attacking Derrick Morgan and making false statements about him on social media, the lawsuit alleges.
