‘Brunch And Soca: Riddim And Rum’ Was Lit

Hundreds of sexy patrons descended on the Police Officer’s Club Course on Hope Road to ‘galang bad’ during a rip-roaring soca-dancehall session, ‘Brunch and Soca : Riddim and Rum’ last Friday.
Female patrons, dressed in sexy outfits, were treated to a steady stream of music from a virtual who’s who of bonafide party pleasers like Young Chow, DJ Q, DJ Peckham, Kidd and Entourage, Selector Watty, Franco and Brush, and Selectah Kerry and Patrick the Hypeman.

The early vibes were created by Selector Watty, and the duo Franco and Bush, and they played popular hits such as Kerwin Du Boi’s Monster Whiner, Fadda Fox’s Ducking, and Yung Breda’s The Greatest Bend Ova.
The heavy hitters such as Young Chow and DJ Peckham turned up later and spewed out a heady mix of hit songs such as Mical Teja’s ‘Energy’, Full Blown’s ‘No Sweetness’ featuring Kes, and Machel Montana’s uptempo ‘Her Mudda’ which ensured that the socaphiles had an incredible time and could ‘wuk up a sweat’. Standout names like DJ Brush1 and Patrick the Hypeman kept the vibes pumping straight through the night.

The premium all-inclusive event blazed a scorching trail at this memorable Carnival pre-event. One female patron told Dancehall Mag
“The energy in Jamaica is unmatched. This isn’t my first time on the island for Carnival and I’m addicted at this point. Whatever is going on in my life, taking vacation for Carnival in Jamaica is a must!” she said.

Jonell “Hova” Goodluck, aka the Brunch King, was pleased with the incredible turnout for the event whose “Riddim & Rum” theme was crafted specifically for Jamaica”.
“The event was a huge success as it captured the island’s deep rooted love for music and rum, two pillars of Jamaican culture. The DJ lineup knew how to move a crowd, a high-energy mix of soca, dancehall, and few global hits to keep the vibes high…it was pure shellings!” Goodluck said.
Patrons were kept hydrated throughout the high adrenaline event and when they got ravenously hungry, they were treated to a wonderful smorgasbord of delectable delights at ‘Brunch and Soca’.
“The feedback on the cuisine last year was incredible, and we raised the bar even higher this time given the rave reviews from Friday’s event. The dedicated vegan station with flavorful, Caribbean-inspired plant-based options was a big hit this year, alongside our usual spread of premium dishes, there was something delicious for every palate,” he said.
The next stop on the Brunch And Soca tour is Atlanta on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Palm Beach ATL.
“This marks the brand’s debut in the city, promising a premium, cuisine-inclusive experience with top-tier DJs and vibrant energy,” Goodluck said.
Goodluck has built a strong brand with the series following editions in New York City and Miami in the United States, and several Caribbean territories, including Barbados and St Vincent, among others.

“Brunch and Soca has grown significantly over the past year. We expanded into new markets like Dubai, London, and Jamaica, while strengthening our presence in key cities like New York and Trinidad. Our events consistently sell out faster, social media engagement is up, and we’ve secured major partnerships with luxury venues and sponsors,” Goodluck said.
The Jamaica Carnival experience has expanded to become a major date on the tourism calendar. Thousands of tourists flew in to Jamaica over the past week despite Jamaica not being known as a carnival destination per se.
“The brand is expanding, there was a time when Bacchanal Jamaica was the only band in Jamaica, and now we have Yardmas, GenXS, and Xodus…thousands of people flew in, the hotels were booked solid, and the Air B n B’s as well, millions and millions of dollars were injected into the economy, that goes to show how much Carnival has grown in Jamaica and it will keep on growing,” one male patron observed.
